Elegy Series

The following six pieces, along with Gallows and Kinderflight, were included in Elegy, a solo exhibition at the California Building Gallery (Minneapolis) in October 2005.

An elegy is a poem that laments death. . . one’s own mortality, the loss of a loved one, the extinction of a community, or the transience of beauty and the dying of light. Primal longings for attachment are accompanied by the threatening inevitability of loss. Abandoned bodices, architectural remnants, stripped branches, hidden jewels, frayed linings, and bandaged limbs serve as visual metaphors for the enduring pas de deux of love and death.
